Amazon review

It is possible to start a successful business without money, friends, or family, but not without an idea. This is fully true of one of the largest companies of our time: Amazon. For a long period, it remained unprofitable, but thanks to the faith of its founder and his team, it was able to go through fire, water and brass pipes, reaching a multibillion-dollar capitalization.

In general, a funny story happened with the name of the company. Originally, Bezos named the store with the magic word “Cadabra”. But there was a slight misunderstanding. When the entrepreneur was discussing their project with a lawyer on the phone, they heard the entrepreneur say not Cadabra, but Cadaver, which translates as “corpse”. Naturally, the lawyer advised them to change the name. Well, Jeff came up with a new one that starts with the first letter of the alphabet to be in the first numbers of any reference system.

The company became known as Amazon, after the famous South American Amazon River. And there’s some meaning and symbolism here, too. The fact is that the Amazon is the longest river in the world.

Well, the ambitious entrepreneur wanted to create no less than the biggest store in the world. That’s why in 1994, Jeff Bezos gave up his career as an employee and opened his own business. He immediately decided to take up e-commerce. However, he did not have much money at the early stage. He borrowed some of it from his parents (about $250,000), and then added some of his own. The business, as is often the case in the U.S., began in his garage. The entrepreneur selected the first categories of goods (mostly books) and began trading.

The company now focuses on creating video content, primarily for the Amazon Prime television network. The company’s broad product portfolio, superior user experience, deals and customer feedback have helped it take the lead in the fast-growing e-commerce market. Building its own infrastructure and global expansion, including into Asian markets, will give the company a strong foothold. The acquisition of Dubai-based e-commerce giant Souq will strengthen its presence in countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

AMZN stock analysis – AMZN price

Until 2001, Amazon was a loss-making enterprise, and many investors called Bezos almost a philanthropist who cares more about the customer than about his own financial well-being. However, Jeff saw further than his nose. Since 2000, his company has experienced a dizzying rise. And here’s how:

  • Successful acquisitions (e.g., the streaming service Twitch and the famous MGM movie studio were acquired);
  • strategic development not only in e-commerce, but also in other areas. For example, in the areas of cloud storage (Amazon’s AWS technology), e-book readers (Amazon Kindle), and so on;
  • The increase in the number of employees (more than a million people working at the moment).

All this eventually led, of course, to Bezos becoming the richest man in the world in 2018. And in 2020, he was the first whose fortune surpassed $200 billion.

Of course, Jeff had his successes as well as his failures. For example, the launch of Amazon’s own phone, the Fire Phone, ended in a failure. Also, Donald Trump accused Bezos of ruining the U.S. Postal Service. Also, many employees were often dissatisfied with the working conditions at the company. All of this led management to raise all British and U.S. workers’ wages to $15 an hour in 2018.

Still, all these difficulties have not hindered Amazon’s prosperity. It is by far the largest marketplace in the entire world. Stock AMZN near a high AMZN stock chart history. You can also use Nvidia stocks for investments.

AMZN stock analysis

Yes, anyone can become a shareholder in Amazon. There are currently more than 508 million securities in the public domain – enough for anyone. The IPO was conducted back in 1997 on NASDAQ. The company was given the ticker symbol, $AMZN. Initially, shares were priced at just 18 cents apiece. In July 2021, they reached their all-time high of $3,773.08. Thus, securities went up nearly 21,000 times.

You have to consider that Amazon had three splits in the 90s, which means that the number of shares outstanding was increasing, and hence their Amazon stock price today was decreasing. Imagine what would have happened if they were gone.

Despite the lifting of the coronavirus restrictions, the last quarter was particularly strong for the company, with EPS of $27.75 per share versus a forecast of $3.73. while revenue was up 9 percent, to $137.4 billion, versus a forecast of $137.6 billion. Part of the phenomenal results can be attributed to the $11.8 billion in revenue from Rivian Automotive’s IPO. Nevertheless, Amazon stock could still be shaken on the back of tighter monetary policy in the U.S.

Amazon’s Dividends

Amazon has never paid a dividend. Until 2001, it was understandable – there were simply no profits. And then the business concept did not include payments to shareholders. Management preferred to invest in growth rather than pay security holders.

So what is the point of investing in the Bezos venture? It is simple: Amazon’s share price has been steadily growing for more than 10 years. This is the logic that guides the company’s main shareholders. They are, of course, institutional investors. They are clearly not afraid of the lack of payments. Rather, they are interested in the growth of the company’s capitalization. The largest shareholders are The Vanguard Group (6.19%), BlackRock (3.51%) and T. Rowe Price (3.23%).

Amazon stock forecast

Amazon has some challenges in the trading segment. For example, at the end of 2021 there were problems with logistics and transportation. The company’s costs went up, and consequently, profits went down.

However, there are positives on which the big players’ forecasts for Amazon are likely based. The organization is a highly diversified business. In addition to trading, the company is involved in cloud computing, streaming, advertising, and more. So if there is a sagging cash flow in one area, the other areas will offset it.

In 20 years, Amazon has evolved from a small company selling books into the undisputed market leader in e-commerce in the U.S., reaching more than 40% market share in 2021. In its niche, the company is confidently leaving its direct competitors Walmart and eBay far behind, expanding its segments of presence and becoming an ecosystem, following the example of other tech companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft and Facebook.

At the moment AMZN stock growth rate is a strong player in the market, which through constant investment in its development and extensive diversification of its activities, will not soon lose its niche. AMZN Nasdaq analysts promise investors growth.
