Uniper: Germany may start rationing natural gas consumption

German gas importer Uniper assumes that Germany will consider the issue of natural gas consumption after Russia’s decision to suspend its transportation through the Nord Stream pipeline. Uniper Chief Executive Officer Klaus-Dieter Maubach told Reuters.
“We do not exclude that Germany may consider rationing gas consumption as an option that can be taken into account,” he said.
Russia’s Gazprom said Sept. 2 that gas deliveries via Nord Stream have been halted indefinitely because of equipment malfunctions. Because of this, EU gas consumption is seriously affected. Many large industrial enterprises were forced to reduce production, or completely stop their activities. Analysts expect the situation to deteriorate further.
Earlier, the head of the French Ministry of Economy Bruno Le Maire, said the introduction of rationing of electricity consumption in the country would avoid energy shortages.
The possible introduction of rationing of gas and light consumption in Italy has previously been spoken about by the leader of the party, “League” Matteo Salvini.
Earlier we reported that wheat, corn and soybeans fell in price on the U.S. stock exchange.
