Is the dollar getting stronger? The dollar is getting stronger against world currencies Tuesday night after the release of inflation data for August in the United States, according to trading data.
Is the dollar getting more expensive?
On Tuesday, the U.S. Labor Department said that annual inflation in the country slowed down to 8.3% in August from 8.5% forecasted by analysts, while analysts expected it to fall to 8.1%. Thus, the markets took the statistics as a signal of a possible tightening of the already “hawkish” policy of the US Federal Reserve.
“The core and core U.S. Consumer Price Index in August came in well above expectations, causing FX and fixed-income markets to begin a quick and sharp reversal from recent price action, when traders and investors were mostly focused on softer inflation,” Monex market analyst Jay Zhao-Murray was quoted by Agence France-Presse as saying.
Earlier we reported that the profit of the owner of Zara in the first half of the fiscal year rose by 44%, to 2.4 billion euros.
