Apple's competitors

Apple’s rivals will not be able to open sales outlets and put up banners advertising their products next to India’s first Apple Store in Mumbai. It was reported by the publication 9To5Mac, citing an investigation by Indian journalists from the Economic Times.

The journalists found out that Apple has received the status of an “exclusive area” for the mall, where the store is located. It allowed Apple to specify in the lease agreement 22 brands that should not conduct commercial activities near the Apple Store.

The list included almost all brands whose products in one way or another compete with Apple products. The question is about Google, Microsoft, LG, Sony, Bose and not only. Even Twitter, which doesn’t directly intersect with the Cupertino company, is in Apple’s disfavor.

9To5Mac believes that Apple has decided to shun Twitter just in case. Allegedly the company is afraid of unpredictable behavior of Elon Musk that could potentially harm the image of Apple.

The Economic Times writes that the store in Mumbai is probably not unique in terms of exclusivity. Journalists speculate that India’s next Apple Store in Delhi will also be fenced off from competitors.

Earlier we reported that IPOs in China rose sharply after listing rules were relaxed.
