India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.24%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the added 0.24%, while the index climbed 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.70% or 93.30 points to trade at 3,552.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) added 2.65% or 29.80 points to end at 1,153.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.96% or 71.80 points to 3,738.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.62% or 86.80 points to trade at 5,274.50 at the close. Nestle India Ltd (NS:) declined 1.61% or 43.54 points to end at 2,668.10 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) was down 1.04% or 8.70 points to 828.40.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.54% to 3,547.05, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.99% to settle at 3,739.95 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.27% to close at 5,942.10.

The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.64% to 2,667.00 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.09% to settle at 3,342.40 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.04% to 1,844.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1148 to 992 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2142 rose and 1563 declined, while 97 ended unchanged.

Shares in Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; up 2.70% or 93.30 to 3,552.00. Shares in Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.65% or 29.80 to 1,153.00. Shares in Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; up 2.54% or 87.90 to 3,547.05.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.25% to 12.63.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.26% or 5.35 to $2,044.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.91% or 0.66 to hit $72.85 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.53 to trade at $78.12 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.12% to 83.17, while EUR/INR fell 0.50% to 90.70.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 102.52.
