South Korean stock index is down

South Korean stock index KOSPI closed lower on Monday, while other major markets in the Asia-Pacific region (APR) were closed, trading data show.
By the end of trading on Monday South Korean stock market KOSPI decreased by 0.48% — down to 2 225,67 points. Market players paid attention to the macrostatistics data published earlier. Thus, the business activity index (PMI) of South Korea in the sphere of industry in December decreased to 48.2 points from 49 points a month earlier.
Basically, the world markets remained closed on the first Monday of the year due to the New Year holidays.
At the close of trading on Friday Shanghai Composite gained 0.51% up to 3,089.26 points and Shenzhen Composite gained 0.37% up to 1,975.61 points, while Hong Kong Hang Seng Index was up 0.2% down to 19,781.41 points. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.26% to 7,038.7 points. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed at 26,094.5 points.
